Process

We produce in small curated collections, starting 2021 only once a year. That means any left over from prior collections are used in our future design capsules and limited pieces.

Even in small production there is waste. We partner with our manufacturing teams in Brazil to ensure we recycle, donate usable fabric for local artisans to create textiles for their own businesses ( shared economy).

Our virtual fitting room partner, Style Me allow us to make smarter decisions around producing the correct size, and number based on the fitting data collected. For 2021 alone we further decreased our production based on 2019 and 2020 sales and try ons.

Materials

Our commitment to using only at least 50% or more recycled materials in ALL our products, including packaging and asking our vendors to reduce their waste to us and refusing to add products that do not meet our standards (and they are getting higher)

We love our 100% compostable bags from The Better Packaging company, who gives us the instructions on how to properly compost with the reusable bags.

We use a thermal printer, ROLLO for our shipping labels and starting 2021 using greener labels.

We are now partnered with Cloverly, our Carbon Neutral Offset partner that will be offsetting our shipping activities with your choice of local social initiatives.

Social Good

We are only partnering with a limited number of brands, and partners to ensure the BOLD Swim brand stays true to its mission and vision. We frequently review our brands and partners to ensure they are a good fit and end relationships if they do not support or values.

More about our Fabric

What is Amni Soul Eco®?
Amni Soul Eco® is the polyamide yarn with enhanced biodegradability, developed and produced.

Amni Soul Eco® biodegrades in around 5 years when disposed of in landfills, compared to more than 50 years for synthetics in general.
Amni Soul Eco® reduces the environmental impact and the amount of waste left to future generations.
*Standard Test Method for Determining Anaerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials Under High-Solids Anaerobic -Digestion Conditions (equivalent to ISO 15985).

Why is Amni Soul Eco® sustainable? How does it help the environment?
Every product at the end of its usable life, when it is disposed of as waste, produces an impact on the environment. Products that are not biodegradable, more specifically, do not decompose after they have been landfilled, which of course is extremely detrimental in environmental terms. On the other hand, products with enhanced biodegradability, such as Amni Soul Eco®, have a limited environmental impact because, after landfilling, they are turned into organic matter (biomass) and biogas which can become new resources for the environment, as well as being used for combined heat and power production.

How does it work? What are the necessary conditions for its biodegradation?
The chemical structure of synthetic fibres, generally speaking, does not allow for bacterial penetration, which makes the degradation process more complex and slower. Amni Soul Eco®, on the other hand, is produced using enhanced polyamide, which – under landfill conditions – facilitates access and digestion of waste material by bacteria, thus accelerating the biodegradation process.

What happens if a consumer disposes of the product incorrectly?
In an outdoor environment, Amni Soul Eco® is inert and decomposes slowly. Therefore, if a garment produced using Amni Soul Eco® is disposed of incorrectly, it is advisable to collect it and send it to recycling or biodegradation in a landfill.

Since it is biodegradable, is it not likely to smell or deteriorate after use? Is it possible that it could attract bacteria which might cause diseases in its users?
The biodegradation properties of Amni Soul Eco® become apparent only and exclusively under landfill conditions, where there is no oxygen and bacteria specifically in charge of anaerobic decomposition are found. Therefore it does not decompose after standard use and this product’s lifecycle is the same as that of traditional polyamide yarns.

Is this product free of toxic substances?
Yes, definitely. Amni Soul Eco® is indeed Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certified, to guarantee the absence of substances which could harm the health of adults, children and babies. Oeko-Tex is actually the independent control and certification system which certifies the safety of textile products for human use.
